With 20 days away from unveiling its first sedan, the Chinese electric carmaker is ramping up its retail stores.

On Saturday, Nio opened its 198th and 199th stores in Wuxi and Beijing.

On Sunday, it opened its 200th store in Chengdu, where Nio will host the upcoming Nio Day to launch its first sedan on January 9.

Nio's first Nio Center in Chengdu opened on Tianfu Avenue on September 30, 2018. The second local service center is located at Chengdu MixC.

On October 6 this year, Nio said that Nio Day 2020 will be held on January 9, 2021, at the Wuliangye Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center. The performing arts center has a floor area of about 99,000 square meters and can accommodate 12,000 people.

At this year's Nio Day, Nio is expected to unveil its first production sedan, the name of which has yet to be determined.

In the previous three Nio Days, Nio released three models, ES8, ES6, and EC6.

After the production sedan is released and launched, Nio will further enrich its portfolio of models on sale and compete head-to-head with Xiaopeng P7, Han EV, Model 3, and other models.

The sedan will likely be built on the second-generation platform currently under development, using a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive system, and will be compatible with the L4 driver assistance system.

Although Nio's fourth model won't be released until January, the company is already talking about a successor to the model.

During Nio's third-quarter conference call, William Li Bin, founder and CEO of the company, said that Nio will soon release its fourth model, a sedan that will be powered by NP2.0, and that Nio has begun work on a fifth model, also a sedan.
