After mass production of the standard range and long-range Model 3s, 's Gigafactory in Shanghai may soon begin production of the Performance version of the car.

Tesla has registered the Performance Model 3 to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as well as the Zero-G wheels and new headlights for the electric car, according to Weibo user @常岩CY, an EV enthusiast who has been closely following Tesla's operations.

On Tesla China's website, the Performance Model 3 is expected to be delivered starting in the first quarter of 2021.

The Performance Model 3 has an NEDC range of more than 600 km, a top speed of 261 km/h, and a 0-100 km acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.

The China-made Performance Edition Model 3 features dual-motor all-wheel drive, 19-inch Powersports wheels, advanced brakes, a carbon fiber spoiler, and aluminum pedals, and a lower suspension.

According to Tesla's website, the starting price of the Performance Edition Model 3 is RMB 419,800 ($64,200).

The other two models currently produced by the Shanghai Gigafactory are the rear-wheel-drive standard range version and the long-range version, with the former starting at RMB 249,900 yuan and the latter starting at RMB 309,900 yuan after subsidies.
