WM Motor's third smart electric SUV unveiled with L4 autopilot for specific scenarios-CnEVPost

WM Motor's third all-new intelligent electric SUV was unveiled at Baidu's Apollo 2020 eco-conference on December 8.

Developed and built by WM Motor in collaboration with Baidu Apollo platform, the new car adopts a new electrical and electronic architecture and will be the first to be equipped with an intelligent unmanned parking system called the "Cloud AVP", which is capable of L4-level autopilot in certain scenarios.

According to the Chinese electric car company, the Cloud AVP allows the vehicle to perform functions such as automatic driving, obstacle avoidance, intelligent search for parking spaces and autonomous parking in and out of parking lots without human intervention, enabling L4-level autonomous driving in parking scenarios.

The car owner can use the touch interface to let the Apollo system quickly remember and recognize the road and upload it to the cloud. When the cloud completes the calculation and sends out the data, the car owner only needs to park the car at the entrance of the parking lot, and the car will automatically drive in and find a parking space without human intervention.

The test vehicle has been put into trial operation at the Baidu campus and will debut in 2021 with a new WM Motor model, the company said.

The new vehicle adopts WM Motor's new electrical and electronic architecture and is equipped with the first 7 nm process automotive-grade Qualcomm 8155 chip, a 5G baseband and an in-house developed autopilot domain controller.

It has 22 sensors, including five 77GHz millimeter-wave radars, five cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars.

WM Motor said it will continue to work with Baidu to expand the Apollo eco-system and open road L3-level autopilot functions, and will have the opportunity to launch it through OTA next year.
