WM Motor, the electric vehicle responsible for four spontaneous combustion accidents in 35 days, has announced a recall.
On October 28, according to the China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) website, WM Motor has decided to recall a total of 1,282 vehicles manufactured from June 8, 2020, to September 23, 2020, and equipped with certain cell models.
The vehicles included in this recall have abnormal lithium precipitation in the power battery due to impurities mixed in by the cell supplier during the manufacturing process.
In extreme cases, this can lead to short-circuiting of the cells, which can lead to thermal runaway of the power battery and a risk of fire, posing a safety hazard.
Through authorized dealers, WM Motor Manufacturing Wenzhou will replace power battery packs with cells from other suppliers free of charge for vehicles covered by the recall to eliminate the safety hazard.
WM Motor is asking owners to immediately stop running the vehicle with the potential hazard and contact their local WM Motor authorized dealer for service.
WM Motor will notify relevant users of this recall via registered mail, smart interactive system, the WeeWee On the Go app, SMS, WeChat, and phone.
