Starting this year, Volkswagen will equip domestically produced new energy vehicles with batteries from , China's largest automotive lithium-ion battery maker, Volkswagen Group (China) CEO Stephan Wöllenstein revealed during the World New Energy Vehicle Congress 2020.

Wöllenstein said that by 2025, the Volkswagen Group's battery capacity needs in China will reach 150 GWh.

Volkswagen and its joint ventures in China plan to invest 15 billion euros in electric mobility in China by the end of 2024.

By 2025, Volkswagen will produce 15 electric models for the Chinese market on the MEB platform, when 35 percent of the models sold in China will be electric, with annual deliveries of around 1.5 million vehicles.
