Volkswagen is preparing to launch the first new electric vehicle ID.3 based on its MEB platform. The company said it plans to deliver 30,000 ID.3 cars "almost simultaneously" and said the car would be cheaper than a gasoline car.

In November 2019, Volkswagen began producing ID.3 electric vehicles at its Zwickau plant. They transformed the plant from a gasoline-powered car to an electric car.

However, Volkswagen said that delivery of ID.3 will not begin until the summer of 2020.

This seems to be an unconventional way to launch a new car, but according to Tencent Tech, Volkswagen's ID.3 production has been plagued by some software issues.

Now the German automaker says that once it starts delivering ID.3, it will deliver 30,000 cars "almost simultaneously":

"Our goal is to deliver to customers around Europe almost 30,000 the first-generation ID.3 electric cars they booked."

The automaker also briefly mentioned the car's software, saying it would be the first Volkswagen to continuously update software, but it did not acknowledge any issues:

"This will be Volkswagen's first electric vehicle based on modular power tools (MEB) with continuously upgradeable software. During the production process, the current software version will be installed on the vehicle. In the coming months Here, software features will be updated regularly. "

In addition, Volkswagen also discussed the cost of ownership of ID.3 and how it differs from similar gasoline cars.

Price is no longer a reason to oppose electric vehicles, but a reason to support them. In the future, even without subsidies, the price of electric vehicles will be very attractive.

VW plans to start delivering ID.3 in Europe this summer.
