Recently, China-made Model 3 has been complained by consumers that the hardware version of the vehicle controller on it is inconsistent with the version reported on the "Environmental Carry List".

The "Hardware 3.0" version shown in "Car List" was "reduced" to a Hardware 2.5 version with a performance difference of 21 times, which caused many car owners and netizens to question.

On March 3, Tesla China finally issued a note on the incident and promised to replace HW3.0 hardware free of charge for China-made Model 3 owners equipped with HW2.5 hardware.

According to Sina Tech, the support functions and hardware performance of HW2.5 and HW3.0 are very different, the latter is 21 times higher than the former.

In addition, Tesla models equipped with HW3.0 chips have the ability to identify traffic isolation piles. Based on HW3.0 chips, in the future, the vehicle OTA will also be upgraded to "identify traffic lights" and "automatically assist driving in urban streets" And other advanced driver assistance functions.

Tesla models equipped with HW2.5 controllers do not support the upgrade of these driver assistance functions.

In this regard, Sina Tech quoted professionals as saying that Tesla China replaced the HW3.0 chip in production and delivered the vehicle with the HW2.5 chip to the consumer, without telling the consumer and changing the delivery content.

They believe that this is a breach of contract in a contractual relationship and is suspected of violating some of the provisions of the two laws, the Contract Law and the Consumer Protection Law.

As of the close of March 3, Tesla closed at $745.51 with a total market value of $137.2 billion.
