Xiaomi EV's first delivery centers in 28 cities in China will also start delivering vehicles to customers tomorrow.

Xiaomi EV, which originally had an April production plan of around 5,000 units, is negotiating with suppliers to increase production capacity, according to local media.

Customers ordering the Xiaomi SU7 will now have to wait about 3-7 months, with deliveries of the SU7 Max extended to mid-October.

Firm orders for the Xiaomi SU7 include refundable orders within 7 days as well as non-refundable orders with locked-in configurations, unlike what other EV makers are doing.

For an EV maker, pure electric sedans usually struggle to get high sales, with SUVs being the main support for sales and profits, an industry watcher said.

Xiaomi said the SU7 secured more than 50,000 firm orders within the first 27 minutes after it started accepting orders.

The Xiaomi SU7 starts at RMB 215,900, and deliveries of customized vehicles will begin at the end of April.

Core specs of the SU7, the first EV model from Xiaomi, have been leaked, just hours before its official launch.

Smart driving is a key battleground for EVs, and Xiaomi's goal is to be in the top tier of the industry within 2024, the company's CEO Lei Jun said.

Xiaomi EV's factory is ready and deliveries will start as soon as the SU7 is launched, it suggested.
