Chinese buyers opting for Model Y inventory cars can secure delivery within this year, thereby qualifying for more favorable tax policies.

The new 821-km Model Y variant secured orders equivalent to three weeks of production capacity at Tesla's Shanghai factory on its launch day.

Model Y retail sales in China from January to October totaled 312,331 units, down 16.46 percent year-on-year.

Tesla's October retail sales in China came in at 26,006 units, the lowest figure since November 2022.

The new Model Y variant starts at RMB 288,500 ($40,500) and boasts an 821-km CLTC range, with estimated delivery times of 2-4 weeks.

Model Y retail sales in China totaled 51,173 units in September, up 6.16 percent year-on-year, boosted by the launch of the six-seat Model Y L.

Both new projects have now entered the validation testing phase, according to a report by 36kr.

The new Model Y variant uses a single motor and batteries from LG Energy Solution, similar to the Model 3 variant with an 830-km range.

The Model Y saw year-on-year declines in China retail sales for six out of the first eight months, ahead of the deliveries of the six-seat Model Y L that began earlier this month.

Since its launch on August 19, the Model Y L has received 120,000 orders, averaging nearly 10,000 daily, according to a local media report.
