China EV insurance registrations for 2 weeks ending Feb 2: Nio 3,300, Onvo 2,480, Tesla 13,400, BYD 68,100

  • Xpeng was at 11,100 units, Li Auto 11,000, Xiaomi 8,500, Zeekr 4,500, Leapmotor 9,500 and Aito 7,700.
  • Industrial production in China was disrupted by the Chinese New Year holiday from January 28 to February 4.

Li Auto delivers 29,927 cars in Jan, almost halves from Dec

Li Auto delivered 29,927 vehicles in January, a decrease of 48.85 percent from December and down 3.97 percent from the same month last year.

    China EV insurance registrations by brand for week ending Jan 19: Nio 2,836, Onvo 1,913, Tesla 10,000, BYD 55,000

    • Xiaomi had 5,600 insurance registrations last week, Li Auto 9,500, Xpeng 9,400, Zeekr 3,600, Leapmotor 7,000 and Aito 6,100.
    • Nio said it sold over 4,700 units last week, up 145.7 percent year-on-year. The Nio brand was at 2,836 units, and Onvo at 1,913 units.

    Li Auto opens its 1st overseas R&D center in Germany

    • Li Auto opened an R&D center in Munich, Germany, which it said is the first step in its global R&D strategy.
    • The German team will help Li Auto gain insights into the European market and build development and testing capabilities based on European automotive regulations.

    Li Auto sees Li L6 cumulative deliveries exceed 200,000 units

    Li Auto launched the Li L6 on April 18, 2024 and is its least expensive model. The SUV contributed 38.41 percent of its deliveries in 2024.

    • Xiaomi had 5,400 insurance registrations last week, Li Auto 7,600, Xpeng 7,400, Zeekr 2,800, Leapmotor 5,200 and Aito 5,000.
    • The Nio main brand did not make it to any of the lists shared by Li Auto for the first time.

    Li Auto launched the Li L6 on April 18, 2024, and the five-seat SUV is its least expensive model.

    • For the full year 2024, Nio had 205,300 insurance registrations in China, ranking 5th among new car-making brands and 8th among premium brands.
    • Tesla was 659,400 units, ranking 4th among premium brands behind Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.
