China EV insurance registrations by brand for week ending Jan 5: Nio 3,000, Onvo 2,300, Tesla 5,500, BYD 36,500
- Major EV makers saw a significant drop in insurance registrations in China last week, due to the usual slow deliveries at the beginning of the month and the impact of the New Year's Day holiday.
- Xpeng overtook Li Auto at No. 1 in the new brands list for the first time.
Leapmotor launches new C16 SUV variants with longer range
- Leapmotor launched two new BEV variants for the C16 with a starting price of RMB 172,800 ($23,590), 6.8 percent higher than the starting price of the previous BEV variants.
- The new variants come with a larger battery pack and the CLTC range has been upgraded from 520 kilometers to 580 kilometers.
Leapmotor delivers 42,517 cars in Dec, 7th consecutive record month
For the full year 2024, Leapmotor delivered 293,724 vehicles, above its target of 250,000 units.

This is Leapmotor's sixth consecutive month of record deliveries, meeting its annual target of 250,000 vehicles ahead of schedule.
