The upgraded Denza Z9GT features a sharply lower starting price, second-generation blade battery, and ultra-fast charging to target the premium EV market.

BYD is attempting to reverse declines with disruptive charging technology and premium models amid six consecutive months of falling sales.

The updated Denza Z9GT boasts the world's longest range for a pure electric vehicle, marking a 64% increase over its predecessor's 630-km range.

The Denza Z9GT had an average sales price of RMB 380,000 ($51,950), while the Fang Cheng Bao brand had an average sales price of RMB 332,000 in December.

Denza will officially launch the Z9 on November 15, the first day of the 2024 Guangzhou auto show, after having started pre-sales of the sedan on August 20.

Denza's Z9GT, another model in the Z series, hit the market on September 20 at a starting price of RMB 334,800 yuan.

Denza said the Z9GT received more than 5,000 firm orders in its first 36 hours on the market, with the 2010 units of limited-edition cars already sold out.

The Z9GT comes standard with e3 technology, which can be seen as a scaled-down version of BYD's e⁴ technology built for ultra-luxury cars, bringing powerful performance to an affordable model.

Denza started the pre-sales of the Z9GT on August 20, with a price range of RMB 339,800 ($47,770) to RMB 419,800.

The Z9GT will officially go on sale and begin deliveries in September, and its powerful performance and lower-than-expected prices mean Denza has high hopes for its sales.
