China saw 482.9 MWh of semi-solid batteries installed in May, up 30.9 percent from 369.0 MWh in April, with WeLion the sole contributor, according to an industry association.

Starting June 1 at 10 am Beijing Time, Nio owners will have the option to rent the 150-kWh battery pack on a daily basis, giving their vehicles up to 1,000 km of range.

Customers who rent a Nio vehicle for three or more days between May 1-31 will have the chance to experience the 150-kWh battery pack.

Nio tested the ET7's range with the 150-kWh battery on three routes in its latest challenge, achieving 1,070 km, 1,062 km, and 1,046 km, respectively.

Nio's 150-kWh battery packs, of which some have been produced recently, are expected to begin entering service in late April, William Li said today.

Nio said a month ago that its 150-kWh ultra-long-range battery pack will come online in the second quarter, and is the largest capacity battery pack mass-produced in China's passenger car segment.

This is the largest-capacity battery pack mass-produced in the Chinese passenger car market, and Nio models equipped with the pack have a range of up to 1,055 km, Nio said.

WeLion expects to begin supplying semi-solid-state battery cells to Nio in volume in April 2024, depending on Nio's needs.

After 1,044 kilometers of driving, the Nio ET7 has a remaining charge of 3 percent or 36 kilometers of remaining CLTC range.

Li will drive an ET7 with a 150-kWh battery pack from Shanghai on December 17 at 6:30 am local time and live-stream his experience.
