Nio's insurance registrations were down 8.7 percent last week compared to the previous week, Xpeng was down 18.97 percent and Li Auto was down 14 percent as deliveries are usually slow at the beginning of the month.

"While management still has a long way to go in restoring creditability among investors, this should be viewed as a meaningful step in the right direction," Edison Yu's team said.

Nio said it will improve resource efficiency and defer or cut investments in projects that do not contribute to the company's financial performance in three years.

The EC6's contribution to Nio's sales is modest, but the actor's move to buy the coupe SUV is an endorsement of the model and the Nio brand.

Nio's SUV deliveries in October were down 3.63 percent from September, while sedan deliveries were up 20.57 percent.

As of October 31, Nio had 139 Nio Houses, 314 Nio Spaces and 2,079 battery swap stations worldwide.

Between October 1 and October 29, insurance registrations were 14,100 for Nio, 15,200 for Xpeng, 36,800 for Li Auto and 27,300 for Tesla in China.
