BYD has become the first Chinese automaker to participate in the Tokyo auto show, with the ultra-luxury Yangwang U8 making its overseas debut and demonstrating its tank turn feature.

"This is another leap in the technology, I mean, next level leap," Newsom said after experiencing the tank turn feature of the Yangwang U8 in Shenzhen.

BYD's Yangwang U8, which costs more than RMB 1 million, has gone into production with over 30,000 orders, according to a local media report.

BYD has entered 19 European countries since announcing its entry into the European passenger car market at the Paris auto show in 2022.

BYD's average profit per vehicle improved by about RMB 2,700 in the third quarter from the second quarter, driven primarily by scale advantage, analysts said.

BYD expects its net profit for the first three quarters to be RMB 20.5 billion - RMB 22.5 billion, up 120.16 percent - 141.64 percent year-on-year.

The Dolphin and Seal will be available immediately at BYD stores, while the Atto 3, Han, and Tang have previously been available to Finnish customers.

The Seal is BYD's third model to be launched in Macau after the Atto 3 and Dolphin.

In the January-September period, BYD took first place with a 36.3 percent share, Tesla was second with 8.4 percent and Nio was ninth with 2.1 percent.

CATL's share of the global EV battery market in January-August rose from January-July, while BYD declined slightly.
