Xpeng released more official images of the GX on the social media platform Weibo on Wednesday, showcasing grey and gold exterior colors to tease its new flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) ahead of its launch.

The new vehicle is a technological masterpiece geared towards the physical AI (artificial intelligence) era, aiming to redefine modern luxury with advanced technology, the company said.

The large six-seat SUV, internally codenamed G01, bears a resemblance to the Range Rover in its side profile and is built on Xpeng's new SEPA 3.0 (Smart Electric Platform Architecture 3.0).

The model integrates technologies including steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering, and is defined as a super intelligent entity capable of leading the heights of the next era, the company said.

The GX will continue Xpeng's dual-powertrain strategy by offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options, according to a filing catalog released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in February.

The EREV variants will be equipped with a 1.5-liter engine as a range extender alongside dual motors, while the BEV versions will offer rear-wheel and four-wheel drive options, with a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

The full-size SUV measures 5,265 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,115 mm, and its interior space inherits the comfortable DNA of the X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).

Xpeng is testing L4 autonomous driving capabilities on the GX, which is equipped with four Turing chips delivering an effective computing power of 3,000 TOPS, local media Cailian reported in February.

The GX will be positioned higher than the currently available G9 SUV, and is expected to target the premium luxury vehicle price segment of 400,000 yuan ($58,560) to 500,000 yuan.

The G9 currently has a starting price range of 248,800 yuan to 278,800 yuan in China.

Xpeng's intensified teasing of the GX comes a day before local peer Nio is set to hold a technology launch event for its flagship electric SUV, the ES9, tomorrow.

The ES9 will replace the ES8, which starts at 406,800 yuan, to become Nio's newest flagship SUV as it explores the higher-end market.
