BYD's ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang is about to unveil the four-seat version of its flagship U8L model, further consolidating its position in the ultra-high-end automotive market.
The U8L four-seat version will make its debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show starting on April 24, Hu Xiaoqing, general manager of Yangwang's sales division, said on Weibo on Wednesday.
The four-seat version of the flagship model in the Yangwang family will feature significant upgrades in cabin experience and personalized options, Hu said.
Hu added that the new vehicle will have a distinct price range difference compared to the currently available six-seat U8L, hinting at a higher price.
Yangwang launched the brand's 2026 models in China last month, including the updated U8L Dingshi Edition, which brought the second-generation BYD Blade Battery and ultra-fast flash charging technology.
The Yangwang U8L Dingshi Edition is Yangwang's flagship model, starting at 1.3 million yuan ($190,350) and positioned as a large luxury SUV.
The existing U8L is a six-seat model with a 2+2+2 seating layout. It measures up to 5,400 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.
The model has a CLTC battery electric range of 230 kilometers and a combined range of 1,205 kilometers. The vehicle supports charging to 70% in 5 minutes and 97% in about 9 minutes.
The U8L is equipped with the DiSus-P Plus intelligent hydraulic body control system and supports safety features such as emergency floatation and tire blowout stabilization.
In recent years, Yangwang has become an important platform for BYD to showcase its core technological assets and test its brand premium.
At the upcoming Beijing Auto Show, Yangwang is expected to showcase ultra-high-end products, including the U9 supercar and the U7 sedan.
April 24 and 25 are the media days for this year's Beijing Auto Show, dedicated to hosting domestic and foreign journalists. The general public can visit the massive auto exhibition from April 28 to May 3.
