- Nio will announce pre-sales prices and technical details for the ES9 on April 9.
- Nio released an official teaser video for its largest SUV, the ES9, showing details of its lights and interior.

Nio released a new teaser video and several images for the ES9, as the Chinese EV maker prepares to hold a technology launch event for the new SUV (sport utility vehicle) on Thursday, April 9.
Nio showed details of the full-size electric SUV's lights and interior in the video on Tuesday, calling the ES9 a pioneer in the smart electric executive flagship SUV category. More official images were later shared by the company on Weibo.
The new model will be the largest pure electric SUV in China by size, said Yang Bo, head of user operations at Nio.
Information regarding the ES9's pre-sales prices will be announced on Thursday, he added.
The upcoming event will start at 7 pm Beijing time on Thursday, aiming to build market momentum for the model ahead of the Beijing auto show.
The biennial Beijing auto show will open on April 24, where the ES9 is expected to make its public debut. Media registration for the show is already open.
The ES9 will be officially launched at the end of May, with deliveries expected to begin on June 1. Uncamouflaged spy shots revealed ahead of the April 9 unveiling showed the massive size of the vehicle.
The ES9 measures 5,365 mm in length, 2,029 mm in width and 1,870 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm, according to a regulatory filing in January. The dimensions are larger than the third-generation ES8, which is already one of the largest electric SUVs.
Nio released a winter testing video for the ES9 last month, starting to build hype for the large electric SUV. The video showed the ES9 successfully passing a tire blowout test conducted at a high speed of 150 km/h.
The video also showed a comparison between the ES9 and the smaller Firefly EV navigating narrow roads, hinting that the large SUV will have a turning radius and agility comparable to a compact car.
The ES9 is expected to be equipped with Nio's latest generation of core research and development achievements, which are likely to include two in-house developed Shenji NX 9031 autonomous driving chips and the SkyRide chassis system.
There is currently no specific pricing information for the ES9. Nio's current highest-end model is the ET9 executive sedan, which starts at 768,000 yuan ($111,740).
The new flagship ES9 SUV will be equipped with a 102-kWh battery pack, which will provide the large EV with a range of up to 620 kilometers, according to previous regulatory filings.
