BYD's premium brand Denza started pre-sales for the N9 flash charging edition on Tuesday to step up its efforts in the large luxury SUV (sport utility vehicle) market.
The pre-sales price range for the new model is set at 450,000 yuan ($65,620) to 500,000 yuan.
This is significantly higher than the regular N9's price range of 389,800 yuan to 449,800 yuan. However, as is customary in the Chinese market, the final launch price of a new model is typically lower than its pre-sales price.
As the core highlight of this upgrade, the Denza N9 flash charging edition comes standard with BYD's latest second-generation Blade Battery and new flash charging technology.
This key hardware upgrade gives the model industry-leading energy replenishment efficiency, with the brand claiming it can be fully charged in nine minutes.
Even in extreme low temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the charging time will only increase by three minutes thanks to an optimized battery thermal management system, Denza said.
Under the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) standard, the large hybrid SUV's pure electric range jumps to 420 kilometers, up from the regular N9's 230 kilometers.
The flagship SUV measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
The exterior retains its business- and family-friendly design, featuring a closed front face paired with an active grille, and comes equipped with exclusive 22-inch mirror-forged wheels.
The powertrain consists of a 2.0T engine dedicated for plug-in hybrids and three electric motors, delivering a combined maximum power of 680 kW and can allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
The vehicle is also equipped with BYD's God's Eye 5.0 advanced smart driving assistance system, as well as e3 technology and the DiSus-A body control system.
It supports a variety of unique vehicle control features, including independent rear-wheel dual-motor steering, compass turn, and a 15-degree intelligent crab-walk mode.
Customers who place orders during the pre-sales period will receive a total of 18 months of free flash charging benefits.
The Denza N9 was last updated in September 2025, when the 2026 model was launched with upgraded features at an unchanged starting price.
