Nio Inc's third-generation ES8 saw 16,255 vehicle deliveries in March, and the company extended purchase incentives to sustain the sales momentum of the high-margin model.

The Chinese EV maker announced the figure on Weibo on Wednesday. The ES8 accounted for 45.81% of the company's 35,486 deliveries in March.

In the first quarter, 45,184 ES8s were delivered, contributing 54.14% of Nio Inc's 83,465 deliveries during the same period, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The strong delivery performance in March allowed the flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) model to capture the sales crown among large SUVs and models priced above 400,000 yuan ($58,200) in China for the third consecutive month, Nio said Wednesday.

The company continues to offer purchase perks for the ES8 in April similar to those in March, retaining a limited-time purchase tax subsidy of 10,000 yuan and five years of free access to the NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus) driver assistance feature.

A seven-year, 84-month low-interest financing plan for car purchases was also retained, allowing buyers to pay an initial down payment as low as 20%.

For users who order and lock in their orders before April 30, the perk of receiving a free interior kit worth 2,980 yuan is also maintained.

The third-generation ES8 offers six- and seven-seat options with a starting price of 406,800 yuan including the battery pack, making it one of the most expensive models from local Chinese automakers.

The model's commercial success played a key role in Nio's recent historic financial turnaround, helping it achieve an operating profit of 1.25 billion yuan in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The robust performance of the premium SUV also drove Nio Inc's total deliveries in March to achieve a significant year-on-year growth of 136%.

Nio is currently preparing to enter an intensive new product launch phase in hopes of sustaining its overall sales growth momentum in the highly competitive Chinese auto market.

It will officially launch the 2026 ES6, EC6, ET5, and ET5 Touring later today, updating its four lower-priced models.

Nio also plans to release a five-seat version of the ES8 in early July, the company's co-founder and president Qin Lihong said at an event in Shenzhen last month.

A Nio executive teased the upcoming milestone, implying March deliveries of the ES8 approached 20,000 units.
