BYD officially launched the 2026 Seal 06 DM-i wagon and Seal 06 GT, equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and ultra-fast flash charging technology, as the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant seeks to further attract young consumers.
The starting price of the hybrid 2026 Seal 06 DM-i wagon is set at 111,900 yuan ($16,230), while the pure electric 2026 Seal 06 GT starts at 128,900 yuan.
Both models are equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, allowing the vehicles to charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
The entire process of charging the battery from 10% to 97% takes only nine minutes. Even in extreme cold environments of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the charging time will only increase by three minutes, according to BYD.
The 2026 Seal 06 GT has a body length of 4,630 mm and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. The model offers two motor options of 240 kW and 200 kW.
The pure electric hatchback has a range of 520 kilometers and 620 kilometers. It continues to adopt the marine aesthetics design concept and features hidden door handles.
The Seal 06 DM-i wagon is powered by BYD's fifth-generation DM technology, with pure electric range options of 200 kilometers and 300 kilometers.
BYD released its second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology early last month, and subsequently updated multiple models to feature these technologies.
The company plans to build 20,000 flash charging stations by the end of this year, including about 18,000 commercial stations built in cooperation with local charging network operators.
The other 2,000 are highway flash charging stations. BYD plans to deploy one station every 100 kilometers on average along highways.
As of April 1, 2026, the company had built 5,000 flash charging stations.
These high-power charging stations currently cover 297 cities nationwide. At present, the number of registered users on BYD's flash charging app has exceeded 700,000, it said today.
The company will complete the first batch of 1,000 highway flash charging stations before May 1, alleviating the range anxiety of EV owners during long-distance travel.
The Seal family, BYD's sedan lineup, recorded strong sales of 29,791 units in March. The family includes the Seal EV, Seal 05, Seal 06 EV, Seal 06 DM, Seal 06 wagon, Seal 06 GT, and Seal 07.
In the first three months of this year, the cumulative sales of this series of models reached 74,013 units.
