- Leapmotor ended a three-month streak of sequential declines in monthly deliveries.
- Leapmotor will officially unveil the Ultra version of the Lafa 5 electric hatchback at the Beijing Auto Show later this month.
Leapmotor achieved strong vehicle deliveries last month, recovering from the weakness at the beginning of the year.
The Stellantis-backed Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered 50,029 cars in March, up 34.87% year-on-year and up 78.25% from February, according to data released on Wednesday.
The growth allowed Leapmotor to end a three-month streak of month-on-month declines in deliveries.
In the first quarter, Leapmotor delivered 110,155 vehicles, representing a 25.82% increase year-on-year, but a 45.21% drop compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.
The sequential decline was mainly due to the beginning of the year typically being a slow season for the Chinese auto industry. Deliveries in February, which coincided with this year's Spring Festival, fell to 28,067 units, a nearly one-year low.
To maintain sales growth momentum, Leapmotor is advancing its launch plans for new models.
The company announced today that it will officially unveil the Ultra version of the Lafa 5 electric hatchback at the Beijing Auto Show, which opens on April 24.
The Lafa 5, launched on November 27, 2025, with a starting price of 92,800 yuan ($13,500), is widely seen as the Chinese version of the electric Volkswagen Golf.
The model is a sporty rear-wheel-drive compact EV tuned by Stellantis' European team. The Ultra version will feature higher specifications.
In addition to the sports-focused Lafa 5 Ultra, Leapmotor's flagship SUV model, the D19, will fficially launch on April 16.
The D19 made its debut in October 2025 and opened for pre-orders the following November, although pricing details have not been disclosed.
Leapmotor delivered nearly 600,000 new vehicles in 2025 and achieved its first full-year profit on the back of strong revenue growth.
The company aims to deliver one million vehicles in 2026 and will roll out four new models throughout the year: the A10, D19, A05, and D99.
Leapmotor announced the launch schedule for the four new models last month and expects them to contribute 60% of its 2026 sales.
