BYD's premium brand Denza has opened pre-sales for its second-generation D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), updating the brand's most important model.
Denza introduced the updated D9 and kicked off pre-sales at an event on Sunday, with the model featuring BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and the latest flash-charging technology.
The pre-sales starting price for the updated MPV is set at 389,800 yuan ($56,400), with the top-trim price reaching 489,800 yuan.
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and pure electric versions are priced identically across their respective trim levels, and show cars will arrive at Denza stores in China in April.
The MPV measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,900 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm.
Customers placing orders during the pre-sales period will receive a total of 18 months of free flash-charging rights, similar to other new BYD models equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology.
The new battery allows the vehicle to charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and to 97%in only 9 minutes, breaking industry records.
The D9 PHEV is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and dual motors, achieving a pure electric range of over 400 kilometers under the CLTC testing standard.
The pure electric variant offers both single-motor and dual-motor four-wheel-drive options, providing consumers with a maximum pure electric range of up to 800 kilometers.
All new second-generation D9 models come standard with BYD's God's Eye 5.0 advanced smart driving assistance system to meet the needs of modern business and family scenarios.
Denza also plans to provide this latest autonomous driving software update to older Denza D9 models equipped with previous hardware versions.
The exterior of the new car retains its business-friendly design while introducing a redesigned diamond-cut front grille to inject more contemporary features.
In a related promotional campaign, Denza also announced it is extending the launch benefits period for its refreshed Z9GT model to May 31 from March 31.
Denza launched the updated Z9GT on March 5, making it one of the first models equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology.
