Stellantis-backed Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Leapmotor has officially launched its new compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) model, the A10, bringing once-expensive LiDAR technology to the budget car market.
The new car hit the market on Thursday, with its top-trim version equipped with LiDAR priced at under 90,000 yuan ($13,020).
The Leapmotor A10 is offered in four configurations. The three lower-priced versions without LiDAR start at 65,800 yuan, 69,800 yuan, and 76,800 yuan, respectively. The top-tier version starts at 86,800 yuan.
The Leapmotor A10 is a 5-seater compact pure electric SUV, measuring 4,270 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm.
It is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 90 kW and a peak torque of 150 Nm, capable of handling urban commuting.
The vehicle offers two battery capacity options of 39.8 kWh and 53 kWh, delivering pure electric ranges of 403 kilometers and 505 kilometers, respectively, under CLTC conditions.
The model also supports fast-charging technology, taking just 16 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%.
Intelligence is a core highlight of the new car. The Leapmotor A10 is equipped with Qualcomm's SA8155 or SA8295 cockpit chips, as well as the SA8650 advanced driver assistance system chip.
The top-trim model features 27 perception hardware components, including LiDAR. Its smart driving system boasts a computing power of 200 TOPS, supporting urban and highway assisted driving as well as memory parking functions.
The cabin adopts a minimalist design style. The vehicle comes standard with an 8.88-inch instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch 2.5K resolution floating central control screen.
To enhance the human-machine interaction, the Leapmotor A10 is integrated with Alibaba's Qwen AI large language model.
The Leapmotor A10 is the company's first global strategic model built on the new A platform. Named B03X in overseas markets, it previously debuted at the Brussels Motor Show.
The new car will compete with popular models such as BYD's Yuan Up and Geely's Xingyuan. Leapmotor hopes to stand out with its value for money and intelligent configurations.
The automaker is attempting to sustain robust growth through its new product lineup, having achieved its first full-year profitability in 2025 with nearly 600,000 vehicle deliveries.
Company management reiterated their ambitious goal earlier this month to deliver over 1 million vehicles in 2026, expecting new models to contribute 60% of this year's total sales.
In addition to the A10, Leapmotor plans to launch several new cars this year. Its flagship large SUV model, the D19, is expected to officially hit the market in mid-to-late April.
