- The Song Ultra EV starts at 151,900 yuan ($21,980), and secured 21,586 pre-orders during its 20-day pre-sale period.
- The new model features BYD's second-generation Blade Battery across the lineup, offering driving ranges of 605 kilometers and 710 kilometers.

BYD officially launched the Song Ultra EV on Thursday, outfitting the mid-size pure electric SUV with its second-generation Blade Battery and advanced flash charging technology as standard.
The model's official starting price is 151,900 yuan ($21,980), lower than the 155,000 yuan presale price announced earlier this month.
The Song Ultra EV is a mid-size electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) measuring 4,850 millimeters in length with a 2,840 mm wheelbase.
The new vehicle is equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery across all trims, offering two range variants of 605 km and 710 km.
Powered by a rear-mounted single-motor drive system, the vehicle delivers a maximum output of 270 kW and can reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
The ultra-fast flash charging capability serves as a core selling point for the EV.
Under normal temperatures, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, while reaching a 97% charge takes only nine minutes.
Even in extreme cold of minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging time increases by only three minutes, according to BYD.
The lineup comes standard with the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system and a flat tire stabilization system capable of maintaining vehicle control at speeds up to 140 km/h.
The system features 27 sensors to support urban navigation assistance and all-scenario intelligent parking functions.
As the competition in China's EV market intensifies, BYD is seeking to maintain its edge through faster charging technology and aggressive pricing.
The Song Ultra EV is expected to compete fiercely with rivals such as the Leapmotor C11 and Xpeng G6 in China's mid-size electric SUV segment.
The rollout further completes the pure-electric lineup of BYD's Dynasty lineup, targeting consumers who prioritize family travel and saving costs.
Since pre-sales began on March 6, pre-orders for the Song Ultra EV have surpassed 21,586 units, BYD said.
