- Xiaomi will officially launch its next-generation SU7 electric sedan on Thursday, March 19, with the event scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm Beijing time.
- The company halted production of the first-generation SU7 in February, after cumulative deliveries exceeded 381,000 units since its debut.

Xiaomi EV announced Monday that it will officially launch the next-generation SU7 electric sedan on Thursday, March 19, with the highly anticipated event scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm Beijing time.
Last week, Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun announced that the revamped SU7 would be released this month, moving up the initial April target to maintain momentum in the fiercely competitive EV market.
During the Thursday evening event, Xiaomi will also introduce at least two new consumer electronics products, including the ultra-thin Xiaomi Book Pro 14 laptop and the long-battery-life Watch S5 smartwatch.
Xiaomi's product offensive comes just days ahead of a major event by its primary domestic rival, as Huawei has scheduled its spring all-scenario product launch for March 23.
The new SU7 already began pre-sales in January with a starting price of 229,900 yuan ($33,480), narrowing the gap with the base price of Tesla's Model 3.
As is customary in China's auto industry, the official retail price is typically lower than the pre-sales price.
The updated sedan features significant hardware upgrades, including standard LiDAR across the lineup and 700 TOPS of computing power for its advanced driver-assistance system.
The vehicle also utilizes a 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel roll cage to enhance passenger safety, and is equipped with a high-strength protective coating on the chassis.
Xiaomi is currently fully committed to the production preparation of the revamped model, and the company plans to initiate mass deliveries immediately following the official launch event.
To manage this transition, Xiaomi halted production of the first-generation SU7 in February, a model that has seen cumulative deliveries surpass 381,000 units since its market debut.
Xiaomi is relying on this updated sedan and the YU7 SUV (sport utility vehicle) to achieve its ambitious sales targets, having set a sales estimate of 550,000 vehicles for 2026.
Xiaomi EV's deliveries slumped in February, as the SU7 electric sedan hit its lowest delivery point amid the transition to the new model, compounded by the impact of the Chinese New Year holiday.
The brand delivered 20,414 vehicles in February, down 13.97% from 23,728 units in February last year, and representing a significant 47.66% plunge from 39,002 units in January, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on March 12.
The YU7 SUV dominated the month with 20,196 units delivered, contributing 97.73% of Xiaomi EV's total deliveries in February.
Deliveries of the SU7 electric sedan series, including the ultra-high-performance SU7 Ultra, continued to slide, with only 218 units delivered in February, marking the lowest monthly delivery figure since the lineup's launch.
