Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) officially launched its G6 extended-range SUV on Friday, accelerating its push into China's fiercely competitive hybrid vehicle market.
The G6 extende-range version starts at 186,800 yuan ($27,080), higher than the 176,800 yuan starting price of the all-electric 2026 G6 launched in January.
The G6 extended-range is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a large 55.8-kWh battery, delivering a pure electric range of 430 kilometers.
With a full tank and a fully charged battery, the model boasts a maximum combined range of 1,704 kilometers. Xpeng claims this makes the G6 extended-range version the longest-range SUV globally.
The model comes standard with an 800-volt high-voltage platform and 5C supercharging capabilities. It can add 314 kilometers of range in just 12 minutes, a feature designed to boost charging efficiency and ease range anxiety.
The G6 extended-range edition features the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large model and Xpeng's in-house developed autonomous driving chips, delivering a computing power of up to 2,250 TOPS.
The vehicle is equipped with active safety capabilities, including automatic emergency braking at speeds up to 130 km/h and stable driving after a tire blowout at 180 km/h.
Xpeng is adjusting its software business model by offering tiered, paid options for advanced driving capabilities across its lineup.
The default Max version of the G6 extended-range model is equipped with a single Turing AI chip, providing a computing power of 750 TOPS.
Consumers can pay an additional 12,000 yuan to upgrade to the Ultra SE version, which includes two Turing AI chips. Alternatively, a 20,000 yuan upgrade offers three Turing chips for a near-Level 4 autonomous driving experience.
Xpeng is advancing its dual-powertrain strategy of pure electric and extended-range vehicles. Following the addition of extended-range options for the P7+ sedan and G7 SUV earlier this year, the G6 launch further completes its hybrid product matrix.
To stimulate initial sales, Xpeng announced a limited-time promotional policy for the new G6 model.
Customers who place orders before the end of March will receive benefit packages worth up to 33,200 yuan, including car purchase subsidies and optional equipment funds.
