BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) debuted its all-new Seal 08 sedan on Thursday, as it intensively unveiled a raft of new technologies and models.

The mid-to-large-size sedan is the latest core product in BYD's Ocean lineup and is expected to officially hit the market in the second quarter of this year.

Built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform, the Seal 08 features BYD's newest second-generation blade battery technology, with a pure electric range expected to exceed 1,000 kilometers.

The new vehicle is equipped with megawatt-level flash-charging technology, which BYD claims can add 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes of charging.

The Seal 08 inherits the design language of the Ocean-S concept car, measuring 5,150 millimeters in length with a wheelbase of 3,030 millimeters.

A roof-mounted LiDAR indicates that the car will be equipped with the God's Eye B smart driving assistance system.

To enhance handling flexibility and the driving experience, the Seal 08 integrates rear-wheel steering and the DiSus-A body control system.

The maximum power of its four-wheel-drive version is expected to surpass 480 kW, meaning the model's 0-100 km/h acceleration time could be under 5 seconds.

The Seal 08 is a key strategic move for BYD to expand into the premium market in 2026, with the Sealion 08 SUV (sport utility vehicle) set to follow in its Ocean lineup.

BYD only briefly introduced the Seal 08 at Thursday's event, and further details, including pricing, are expected to be announced at a dedicated future event.

Total sales of BYD's Ocean lineup exceeded 2.22 million units in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.05 percent. In contrast, its Dynasty lineup sold about 1.88 million units in 2025, down 10.14%year-on-year.

With the introduction of all-new models equipped with new technologies like the Seal 08, BYD is poised to further optimize its product mix and drive overall sales growth.

BYD plans to expand its flash-charging stations to overseas markets by the end of 2026.
