Denza, the luxury brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), officially launched the upgraded Z9GT on Thursday, aiming to capture a larger share of the premium EV market through core technological iterations.

The battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant starts at 269,800 yuan ($39,150), a sharp reduction of 85,000 yuan, or 23.96 percent, from the older Z9GT BEV's starting price of 354,800 yuan.

The upgraded Z9GT BEV boasts a CLTC range of up to 1,036 kilometers, setting a new global range record for pure electric models.

Compared to the 630-kilometer range of the older Z9GT BEV, the new model achieves a substantial increase of about 64 percent.

The new Z9GT BEV is equipped with BYD's second-generation blade battery and latest ultra-fast flash-charging technology, a move expected to significantly alleviate consumer range anxiety and charging wait times on highways.

Under the ultra-fast charging mode, the vehicle's battery can go from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, and reach 97% from 10% in a mere nine minutes, according to official data.

For the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version, the new model is equipped with a 63.8-kWh battery pack, nearly doubling its pure electric range from its predecessor to 401 kilometers.

With a full tank and a fully charged battery, the PHEV variant delivers a comprehensive range of up to 1,301 kilometers.

In terms of intelligence and hardware, the new vehicle is equipped with the e3 intelligent vehicle control platform, the God's Eye 5.0 advanced driver assistance system, and the DiSus-A intelligent body control system.

Denza was originally established as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, now Mercedes-Benz Group. Following Mercedes-Benz's complete exit in September 2024, the brand now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of BYD.

The new Z9GT is offered in five variants. The three BEV models are priced at 269,800 yuan, 299,800 yuan, and 369,800 yuan, respectively. The two PHEV variants start at 309,800 yuan and 339,800 yuan.

Deliveries are expected to begin in late March, with display vehicles already arriving at showrooms.
