SAIC-GM-Wuling unveiled the fifth-generation Hongguang Mini EV, its iconic micro EV, on Thursday. As the world's best-selling micro EV, the facelift aims to further solidify its position in China's fiercely competitive entry-level EV market through a new design language.

The fifth-generation Hongguang Mini EV unifies the design across both two-door and four-door variants. The most notable changes include retro-inspired circular headlights and taillights, complemented by a black floating roof.

The updated model introduces three new exterior colors — green, white, and gray —according to information shared by Wuling on Weibo Thursday.

The fifth-generation Hongguang Mini EV has already entered a regulatory catalog of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in December 2025, preparing for its market launch.

Its body dimensions have been slightly adjusted, but the core wheelbase remains largely unchanged to maintain its agility for urban commuting.

The fifth-generation Hongguang Mini EV features larger dimensions: the 4-door version measures 3,268 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,190 mm.

The 2-door version measures 3,043 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width, and 1,590 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,965 mm.

For comparison, the current 4-door Mini EV measures 3,256 mm in length, 1,510 mm in width, and 1,578 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,190 mm. The 2-door version measures 3,064 mm in length, 1,493 mm in width, and 1,614 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,010 mm.

The currently available 4-door Mini EV offers three trim levels starting at RMB 44,800 ($6,540), RMB 49,800, and RMB 50,800.

The 2-door version also provides three trim levels starting at RMB 32,800, RMB 38,800, and RMB 44,800.

Since its launch, this affordably priced pure-electric compact car has served as a key driver in popularizing EVs across China's less-developed markets.

The Hongguang Mini EV family sold 435,598 units in 2025, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.85 million units since its July 2020 debut, according to data released by Wuling on January 1.

The model has maintained its position as China's best-selling A00-class (micro) new energy vehicle (NEV) for 65 consecutive months, according to Wuling.
