- The Nio ES9's range is slightly below the ES8's CLTC-rated 635 km.
- The ES9's technology launch is tentatively scheduled for around April 10, Nio president said last month.

Nio Inc's (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866) upcoming flagship SUV, the ES9, will offer a range of up to 620 kilometers, according to the latest regulatory filing.
The ES9 is equipped with a 102-kWh battery pack weighing 545 kilograms, representing an energy density of 187 Wh/kg, according to a vehicle model catalog eligible for purchase tax reductions released on Monday by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The SUV's curb weight is listed as 2,845/2,870/2,915 kilograms, with CLTC ranges of 620/600/580 kilometers.
For reference, Nio's current flagship SUV, the third-generation ES8, achieves a CLTC range of 635 kilometers with the same battery pack.
The ES9's technical launch event is tentatively scheduled for around April 10, Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong said during a January user engagement event. The exact date may be subject to change.
This suggests the ES9 is poised to debut at the Beijing auto show in late April — one of the world's most anticipated biennial automotive industry events.
The 19th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2026) will be held in Beijing from April 24 to May 3, 2026.
The ES9 appeared in a regulatory catalog from the MIIT last month, revealing the SUV's dimensions as 5,365 mm in length, 2,029 mm in width, and 1,870 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.
These dimensions surpass those of the third-generation ES8, currently China's largest electric SUV at 5,280 mm long, 2,010 mm wide, 1,800 mm high, with a 3,250 mm wheelbase.
The ES9 is expected to incorporate Nio's latest technological advancements, including dual Shenji NX 9031 smart driving chips and the SkyRide chassis, similar to the ET9.
The model has completed the Tooling Trial (TT) manufacturing phase and would enter Pre-Production (PP), Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li told media outlets including CnEVPost on January 6.
All new technologies deployed on the ET9 would be applied to the ES9, he said, adding that he believed the SUV will achieve the same success as the ES8.
The model differs from the ES8 by being better suited for business use, he said.
The third-generation ES8 was launched on September 20, 2025, with a starting price of RMB 406,800 ($58,760) including the battery pack, making it one of Nio's most expensive models.
The third-generation ES8 is also one of Nio's most successful models, reaching its 60,000th delivery on February 1.
