Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) has filed for its new flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle), the GX, with a launch expected in the coming months.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its latest catalog of vehicle models awaiting public comment before sales approval, with the Xpeng GX included.
Public feedback can be submitted between February 7-13. Inclusion in this catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a model can be sold in China.
The Xpeng GX has six pages in the catalog, featuring three extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants — model numbers NHQ6530REEVTC, NHQ6530REEVTB, and NHQ6530REEVTA — alongside three battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions. with model numbers NHQ6530BEVTD, NHQ6530BEVTA, and NHQ6530BEVTC. All production locations are listed as Xpeng's Guangzhou plant.
The six-seat SUV measures 5,265 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,115 mm.
The Xpeng GX EREV has a curb weight of 2,840 kg or 2,890 kg and supports a top speed of 200 km/h.
These EREV variants are equipped with a 1.5L engine from Harbin Dongan Auto Engine serving as the range extender, delivering a maximum power output of 110 kW.
They feature dual motors with maximum outputs of 160 kW at the rear and 210 kW at the front. These models utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CALB.
The BEV variants have curb weights of 2,690 kg, 2,750 kg, 2,785 kg, and 2,820 kg, with a top speed of 200 km/h.
The Xpeng GX BEV offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The rear motor delivers a maximum power of 270 kW, while the dual-motor version adds a front motor with a maximum power of 160 kW. Both utilize LFP and ternary lithium batteries supplied by CALB.
Xpeng previewed the model yesterday, internally codenamed G01. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said the GX's official launch will occur within months.
