Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866) sub-brand Onvo is waiving service fees for owners using highway battery swap stations during the Spring Festival holiday as part of efforts to enhance brand reputation.
From February 15 to 23, Onvo users will enjoy waived service fees when utilizing battery swap stations on Chinese highways, the brand announced today via its mobile app.
The upcoming Chinese New Year falls on February 17, with the holiday period running from February 15 to 23 — a time typically marked by peak travel activity across China.
Waiving service fees at highway battery swap stations will save owners about RMB 20 ($3) per service. Onvo owners will still be charged for the electricity they get.
During last year's Spring Festival, when Onvo's total owner base was under 30,000, the brand offered a more generous plan — unlimited free battery swaps and charging services at highway battery swap stations.
As of late January this year, Onvo's cumulative deliveries reached 132,050 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
To address the Spring Festival travel surge, Onvo announced on December 5 a plan to double its available battery packs, aiming to add over 8,000 new compatible battery packs to its swap stations by mid-January 2026.
This target was achieved yesterday, albeit slightly delayed, yet still 10 days ahead of the Spring Festival holiday.
Since December, Onvo has deployed 8,295 new battery packs across its swap station network, achieving 103.68% of its doubling target, the brand said Thursday.
Onvo users now have access to over 15,000 battery packs, with each swap station holding an average reserve of 6-7 units to enhance the experience during the peak travel season, the brand said.
Onvo shares battery swap stations with the Nio main brand but uses different battery packs.
Nio Inc is poised to reach the cumulative milestone of 100 million battery swap service milestone within hours, according to its charging map data.
