- The Xpeng GX, internally codenamed G01, will feature technologies including steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering.
- The GX is built on Xpeng's new SEPA 3.0 physical AI vehicle architecture.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) previewed a new model, the GX, another large SUV (sport utility vehicle) resembling the Land Rover Range Rover for the Chinese market.
The company shared the first three official images of the Xpeng GX on Weibo Thursday, marking the model's first mention. Its profile bears a resemblance to Land Rover's iconic Range Rover SUV.
The six-seat SUV's development code is G01, where the number 1 signifies the company's approach of starting from first principles and reimagining a full-size flagship family SUV with comprehensive AI thinking, said He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of the Chinese EV maker, on Weibo.
The "X" in GX stands for eXploration, representing the pursuit of the beautiful unknown in mobility, as well as Xpeng's technological X-tech DNA, Mr. He explained.
Built on Xpeng's new SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 3.0 physical AI vehicle architecture, the GX leads the industry by a generation in integration, intelligence, handling, and safety philosophy, he said.
Xpeng has also carried over the popular comfortable spaciousness and flexible drivability DNA from its X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) to the GX, according to Mr. He.
The model employs technologies including steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering to deliver agile handling, he said.
Mr. He did not specify the powertrain configurations for the Xpeng GX, though it may offer both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.
The company's new and updated models launched in recent months have adopted its so-called dual-power strategy, offering both BEV and EREV versions.
Xpeng currently sells three SUV models — the G9, G7, and G6 — with the G9 being the highest-priced, starting at RMB 248,800 ($35,840) and reaching RMB 278,800.
Positioned above the G9, the GX is expected to target a price range between RMB 400,000 and RMB 500,000.
Xpeng's current highest-priced model is the X9 MPV, with a starting price of RMB 309,800 to RMB 329,800.
Xpeng delivered 20,011 vehicles in January, down 34.07% year-on-year and 46.65% month-on-month, according to data released on February 1. Model-specific breakdowns remain unavailable.
The G9 delivered 27,716 units in 2025, marking a 2.83% year-on-year increase and accounting for 6.45% of Xpeng's annual deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
