Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) has commenced pre-sales in China for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant of the X9, following the rollout of an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version for the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) two months ago.
The company began accepting consumer reservations for the 2026 seven-seat X9 BEV on Thursday, offering five variants: 665 Max, 650 Ultra SE, 650 Ultra, 750 Ultra, and 710 AWD Ultra.
The company has not disclosed pre-sales pricing. Consumers can place an order for the X9 BEV with a RMB 2,000 ($290) deposit, which will be applied as a RMB 7,000 discount toward the purchase price.
The 2026 X9 BEV is the world's longest-range pure-electric seven-seater, with a maximum CLTC range of 750 km, the company said.
The 2026 X9 BEV is built on an 800-volt platform and features a battery supporting 5C supercharging.
It delivers class-leading energy efficiency with a CLTC energy consumption of 15.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, according to Xpeng.
The vehicle comes standard with the in-house developed Turing AI chip powering its smart driving features, delivering an effective computing power of up to 2250 TOPS.
Xpeng has not provided further details on the Turing AI chip's usage in the X9, though it is expected to follow the strategy adopted when updating four other models earlier this month.
On January 8, the company launched the 2026 P7+ sedan, along with the 2026 G6 and G9 SUVs, and added EREV options for the G7 SUV. All these models come standard with one Turing AI chip, while consumers can pay extra to upgrade to stronger smart driving systems utilizing up to three such chips.
The X9 was initially launched in China on January 1, 2024, as Xpeng's first MPV model, available only as a BEV at that time.
On November 20 last year, the company launched the extended-range X9 MPV, its first EREV model, starting at RMB 309,800.
The 2025 X9 BEV went on sale in April 2025 with a starting price of RMB 359,800.
The X9 delivered 26,017 units throughout 2025, accounting for 6.06% of Xpeng's total deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Xpeng plans to launch three EREV models in the first quarter 2026 and introduce four new models throughout 2026, offering both BEV and EREV variants, company management said during an earnings call on November 17.
Xpeng delivered 429,445 vehicles in 2025, marking a 125.94% year-on-year increase and achieving its goal of doubling annual deliveries.
Overseas deliveries reached 45,008 units in 2025, up 96% year-on-year, accounting for about 10% of total annual deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Xpeng recently set its 2026 annual target at 550,000 to 600,000 deliveries during an internal strategy meeting, local media outlet 36Kr reported earlier this month.
