Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866), has launched new special edition variants for its L90 large SUV (sport utility vehicle) to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse, following a similar move for the L60.
Onvo has named the two new L90 variants the "Ma Dao Cheng Gong" (马到成功) edition, a Chinese phrase signifying blessings for success and smooth progress, mirroring its approach with the L60 midsize SUV last week.
The L90 special edition offers Max and Ultra options, starting at RMB 296,800 ($42,620) and RMB 316,800 respectively.
The Max variant costs RMB 31,680, or 11.66%, more than the standard Pro variant priced at RMB 26,580. It commands RMB 27,980, or 6.08%, more than the standard Max variant priced at RMB 27,980.
Both special edition variants are exclusively available with a 6-seat configuration and do not apply to the 7-seat variant.
Under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) plan, the starting prices for the two special edition options are RMB 210,800 and RMB 230,800 respectively, with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 899.
They come standard with exclusive horse-themed interior and exterior styling packages, with display models now available at Onvo stores.
This marks one of several new special editions launched by Onvo in recent months, reflecting the brand's — and broader Nio Inc's — focus on expanding visibility at lower costs.
On January 16, Onvo launched a horse-themed special edition of the L60 to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse.
The special edition L60 starts at RMB 218,900 including the battery pack, which is RMB 12,000 or 5.80% higher than the standard version's RMB 206,900.
The five-seat L60 SUV is Onvo's first model, officially launched on September 19, 2024. On September 19, 2025, Onvo rolled out the updated L60 to mark its one-year anniversary. The Onvo L90 large SUV was launched on July 31, 2025.
Onvo previously released special editions including the Violet Edition and Black Knight Edition last year.
The Nio sub-brand delivered 9,154 vehicles in December, marking a 13.05% year-on-year decline and a 22.38% decrease from November, according to data released by Nio Inc on January 1.
Onvo delivered 107,808 vehicles in 2025.
