CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750) and BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) continued to dominate China's electric vehicle (EV) battery market in 2025.

CATL's domestic power battery installations in China in 2025 came in at 333.57 GWh, powering 5.07 million vehicles, according to data released Friday by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

The battery giant's share of China's overall battery market in 2025 were 43.42%, down 1.66 percentage points from 45.08% in 2024.

As the world's largest power battery manufacturer, CATL's batteries are widely used in models from EV makers including Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866), and Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI, HKG: 2015).

BYD's domestic power battery installations reached 165.77 GWh in 2025, powering 3.82 million vehicles.

It ranked second in the overall battery market with a 21.58% share in 2025, down 3.16 percentage points from 24.74% in the same period the previous year.

BYD's batteries primarily power its own vehicles, though some models from Nio's sub-brand Onvo and Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) have also utilized them.

CALB (HKG: 3931) achieved 53.61 GWh of domestic Chinese power battery installations in 2025, powering 830,000 vehicles.

It ranked third in the overall battery market in 2025 with a 6.98% share, up percentage points from 6.68% in the same period last year.

In China's ternary power battery market, CATL achieved a 2025 installation volume of 101.61 GWh, powering 1.46 million vehicles.

Its market share in the ternary battery segment reached 70.90%, up 1.67 percentage points from 69.23% in 2024.

LG Energy Solution achieved a 2025 installation volume of 13.75 GWh in China's ternary power battery market, powering 173,000 vehicles.

The South Korean company held a 9.59% share of China's ternary battery market in 2025, ranking second and increasing by 3.97 percentage points from 5.62% in 2024.

CALB ranked third in this market with 12.73 GWh of installed capacity and an 8.88% share.

It ranked first in this market with a 37.10% share, an increase of 0.03 percentage points from 37.07% in 2024.

BYD achieved an LFP battery installation volume of 165.74 GWh in 2025, powering 3.82 million vehicles.

It ranked second in this market with a 26.51% share, down 6.45 percentage points from 32.96% in 2024.

Gotion High-tech ranked third in the LFP battery market in 2025 with 42.94 GWh of installed capacity and a 6.87% share.

LFP battery installations reached 625.3 GWh in 2025, accounting for 81.2% of total installations and growing 52.9% year-on-year.
