BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) previewed two all-new flagship models as it gears up for a major push in the premium market in 2026.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant shared the first teaser images of the Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV (sport utility vehicle) on Friday, following the emergence of spy photos earlier this week.

These models will serve as the flagship vehicles for BYD's Ocean lineup, the company said. Their camouflaged bodies bear the "Ocean 8" markings.

BYD provided no further details, though the Seal 08 will be a mid-to-large sedan while the Sealion 08 will be a mid-to-large SUV.

BYD previously previewed the Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV as the new flagship models for its Ocean lineup during the Ocean Day event marking the lineup's fourth anniversary on December 15, 2025.

Zhang Zhuo, head of Ocean lineup sales, said at last December's event that these models will redefine premium NEV standards and officially debut in the first quarter of 2026.

BYD's Ocean lineup currently includes the Seal series sedans, Sealion series SUVs, Seagull compact EV, and Dolphin compact EV. The Song Plus series SUVs previously belonged to this lineup but have been discontinued.

Beyond these two Ocean lineup flagships, BYD will also unveil two flagship models from its Dynasty lineup — BYD brand's another lineup, in the first half of the year.

At an event on January 10, BYD announced it will launch two D-segment models for the Dynasty Series: the Han sedan 9 series and the Tang SUV 9 series.

These models will debut in the first half of this year. As they lack official names, BYD has begun soliciting naming suggestions from its user community.

These four models represent BYD's latest push in the premium market. The group's sub-brands — including Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang — have already achieved some success in this segment.

BYD's Ocean lineup recorded sales of 2,220,008 units in 2025, marking a 14.05% year-on-year increase, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
