- Its first NEV model will debut in the third quarter this year and launch in the fourth quarter.

Volkswagen's Jetta brand has established a new company in Chengdu, Sichuan — FAW Volkswagen Jetta Automotive Technology Co Ltd — to compete in the Chinese market with greater autonomy.
The company officially commenced operations on Wednesday, granted increased market-oriented R&D capabilities and faster decision-making authority, according to a press release issued today by FAW-Volkswagen.
It will spearhead the development of smart electric vehicles tailored to local needs while bridging Volkswagen's global technological resources and FAW's supply chain system.
As a core strategic shareholder, Volkswagen will open its global R&D network, provide electrification platforms, and support Jetta's overseas business expansion.
The new company plans to launch five all-new models by 2028, four of which will be new energy vehicles (NEVs).
FAW Volkswagen Jetta's mid-term sales target is 400,000 to 500,000 units annually, the press release said.
Separately, according to a Chengdu government announcement, the company's first model is expected to be launched within 2026.
Per a report by local media outlet Lanjinger, FAW Volkswagen Jetta's inaugural NEV will debut in the third quarter this year and go on sale in the fourth quarter.
The model is expected to be a sedan produced at a Chengdu facility, the report said.
In March 2019, FAW-Volkswagen officially launched the new Jetta brand alongside three new Jetta models, initiating the brand's independent operations.
In August 2025, FAW Group, Volkswagen, and the Chengdu Economic Development Zone Management Committee signed a cooperation agreement in Chengdu to establish a new Jetta-branded company.
In December, the company completed registration as a joint venture between FAW-Volkswagen and a Chengdu state-owned enterprise.
