Zhao Changjiang, former head of sales for BYD's (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium Denza brand, has joined Luxeed — the new brand jointly created by Huawei and Chery (HKG: 9973) — following his departure last October.

Zhao confirmed the move via his personal Weibo account, ending months of speculation. His Weibo profile indicates he serves as Luxeed's executive director and executive vice president.

"Today, carrying the weight of my past experience and a steadfast vision for the future, I formally join HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance)-Luxeed," Zhao said on Weibo Tuesday.

He said he will work with the team to build a truly user-centric, global benchmark smart brand.

Zhao also expressed gratitude to BYD.

Born in 1986, Zhao joined BYD immediately after graduating from university in 2009, rising from a sales manager to become marketing director for the Beijing-Tianjin region.

BYD relaunched the Denza brand in mid-2022, with Zhao leading its sales operations and spearheading channel development and marketing initiatives.

In July last year, Zhao swapped roles with Li Hui, then general manager of Fang Cheng Bao direct sales Division, stepping down from his four-year position as general manager of Denza sales division.

In October 2025, Zhao submitted his resignation as general manager of the Fang Cheng Bao direct sales division.

During Zhao's tenure as Denza's sales leader, the brand launched the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), which became its main-selling model.

Luxeed is developing the V9 MPV, marking Huawei's HIMA business unit's first MPV model.

Last week, the Luxeed V9 appeared in a regulatory catalog of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, paving the way for its launch in the first half of this year.

Richard Yu, Huawei's executive director and chairman of the consumer business group, shared a video about the Luxeed V9 on Weibo at the time. Zhao reposted the Weibo and commented that the industry always needs products to raise the ceiling of imagination.

The Luxeed V9 marks the first MPV model under the Huawei HIMA umbrella, expected to be launched in the first half of 2026.
