Buick, a brand under General Motors, plans to debut the Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV in China during the first quarter of this year as part of its ongoing electrification strategy.
Buick announced the plan on Weibo on Tuesday. The Electra E7 is expected to officially launch in China within the year.
The Electra E7 is a five-seat mid-size SUV built on the Xiao Yao Super Architecture, which Buick unveiled last year.
The model appeared in a regulatory catalog from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last week, revealing dimensions of 4,850 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, 1,676 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.
The Electra E7 features Buick's Zhenlong PHEV system, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a single electric motor.
The engine delivers a maximum power of 115 kW, while the electric motor provides 165 kW.
The Electra E7 utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, delivering over 210 kilometers of range under CLTC conditions. With a full tank and fully charged battery, its combined range exceeds 1,600 kilometers, according to Buick's January 11 announcement.
For intelligent features, the Electra E7 incorporates a roof-mounted LiDAR and employs an advanced driver assistance system based on technology from Chinese autonomous driving company Momenta.
It utilizes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775P chip to power its cockpit featuers.
The vehicle also features a pre-emptive continuous damping variable suspension that anticipates road conditions and adjusts damping in real time.
Buick launched its first Ultium platform-based electric model, the Electra E5, in China in April 2023.
In September last year, the brand rolled out the Electra L7 mid-to-large sedan based on the Xiao Yao Super Architecture.
