BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has established a new sub-brand named Linghui targeting the ride-hailing market, with multiple e-series models planned under this brand.

In the latest regulatory catalog released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Thursday, BYD filed the Linghui e5, Linghui e7, Linghui e9, and Linghui M9, each bearing a new brand logo.

BYD has not formally announced the brand, though media outlets including Yiche indicate this is a new brand specifically developed by the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker for the ride-hailing market.

BYD's current lineup includes the Dynasty series and Ocean series, with the former named after ancient Chinese dynasties and the latter inspired by marine life and naval vessels.

Meanwhile, its e-series models fall under BYD's commercial vehicle division, primarily targeting the ride-hailing market.

In May 2025, BYD launched the e7 electric sedan, starting at RMB 103,800 ($14,400), as the latest addition to the e series.

The BYD e7 is a midsize sedan measuring 4,780 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

BYD offers a wide range of models in the affordable market, many of which have become preferred choices for ride-hailing services due to their operational efficiency.

However, this may drag down BYD's brand image, especially as it explores the luxury market.

The independent Linghui sub-brand could help address this issue.

The Linghui e9 is based on the BYD Han sedan, measuring 4,995 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. It features an electric motor delivering peak power of either 135 kW or 150 kW.

The Linghui e7 is based on the Sealion 06 EV, with dimensions of 4,780 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

The Linghui e5 is based on the Qin Plus EV, with dimensions of 4,805 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,530 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 2,718 mm.

The Linghui M9 is based on the BYD Xia MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), with dimensions of 5,200 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 3,045 mm.

The Song Plus has been replaced by the Sealion 06 as part of BYD's efforts to restructure its product portfolio.
