Buick, a brand under General Motors, has filed for the Electra E7 hybrid SUV in China, continuing its electrification transformation.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a vehicle catalog on Thursday, which included the Buick Electra E7, revealing its key specifications.

The public may submit feedback between January 9-15. Inclusion in this catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a model can be permitted for sale in China.

The SUV's curb weight is 1,850/1,950/1,995 kilograms, with a maximum supported speed of 180/210 kilometers per hour.

The Electra E7 is equipped with a 1.5L engine supplied by SAIC-GM, delivering a maximum power output of 115 kW.

It features a single electric motor with a maximum power output of 165 kW.

The Electra E7 utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, supplied by manufacturers including Zenergy and Rept Battero Energy.

Buick launched the Electra E5 in China in April 2023, with competitive pricing. This marks the brand's first electric vehicle based on the Ultium platform.

The brand unveiled the Xiao Yao architecture in late April last year and announced the creation of the Electra sub-brand. Previously, the Electra designation appeared in the names of multiple Buick electric vehicle (EV) models.

In September 2025, Buick introduced the Electra L7 mid-to-large-size sedan, built on the Xiao Yao architecture.

One of its key selling points is Buick's "Zhen Long" (meaning True Dragon) extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) system.

It features a 1.5L engine serving as the range extender, delivering a maximum power of 115 kW, paired with an electric motor producing up to 252 kW (338 horsepower).
