Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) has filed for its updated SU7 electric sedan, following a preview of the model on Wednesday.

The updated SU7 appeared in a regulatory catalog released today by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, revealing its core specifications.

Its dimensions are 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. These dimensions remain unchanged from its predecessor.

The updated SU7 has a curb weight ranging from 2,055 to 2,280 kilograms and supports a top speed of 265 kilometers per hour.

It offers both single-motor and dual-motor variants. The single-motor version features a peak power output of 235 kW (315 horsepower). The dual-motor variant delivers peak power outputs of 220 kW at the front and 288 kW at the rear.

The model is equipped with either lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or ternary lithium batteries, supplied by manufacturers including CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750) and BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY).

Xiaomi's electric vehicle (EV) unit, Xiaomi EV, began pre-sales for the updated SU7 on Wednesday, with a starting price of RMB 229,900 ($32,920). It represents a RMB 14,000 increase, or 6.48%, from the previous generation's starting price of RMB 215,900.

This narrows the price gap between the Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 from RMB 19,600 to RMB 5,600.

Following industry practice in China's EV sector, the official launch price of a new model typically falls below the pre-sales price.

Xiaomi EV said the updated SU7 is expected to be officially launched in April.

Launched on March 28, 2024, the SU7 is Xiaomi's first vehicle model, with deliveries commencing in April 2024.

Over the past year and nine months, Xiaomi has delivered over 360,000 SU7 units, averaging more than 17,000 vehicles per month, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said on Wednesday.
