Xiaomi EV (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), the electric vehicle unit of Xiaomi, will launch the updated SU7 in April -- the first facelift for its inaugural model.

Xiaomi EV announced the plan today on Weibo, calling the sedan's refresh the next-generation SU7. Pre-orders open at 10 am Beijing time on Wednesday.

Launched on March 28, 2024, with deliveries beginning last April, the sedan became one of China's most popular EV models despite Xiaomi's late entry into the sector.

Over the past year and nine months, Xiaomi has delivered more than 360,000 SU7 units, averaging over 17,000 monthly, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said on Weibo today.

SU7 deliveries remained stable for several months after hitting a record 29,244 units in March 2025, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Following the launch of the YU7 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in June 2025, deliveries of the sedan began to decline significantly. That's primarily because production capacity was allocated more heavily to the YU7, which began deliveries in July 2025.

Over the past year, the Xiaomi SU7 has become the best-selling sedan priced above RMB 200,000 ($28,640), Lei said, citing data from local automotive media Auto Home.

Xiaomi has optimized numerous details for the next-generation SU7, which will remain an outstanding driver's car, Lei said.

The sedan's facelift will introduce new colors, wheels, and interior options, Lei noted.

Safety will be further enhanced with LiDAR becoming standard across all trims, Lei said. The base model of the current SU7 lacks LiDAR.

The new-generation SU7 will achieve significant breakthroughs in range and feature an advanced intelligent chassis, Lei said.

Xiaomi EV did not disclose pricing information for the next-generation SU7. Last month, rumors suggested the updated SU7 could see a price increase of RMB 20,000.

The older SU7 starts at RMB 215,900, undercutting the Tesla Model 3's RMB 235,500 price tag by RMB 19,600.

Xiaomi EV delivered over 410,000 vehicles in 2025, with a target to increase deliveries by 34% to 550,000 units in 2026, according to Lei during a livestream earlier this month.
