Xiaomi EV (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), the electric vehicle division of Xiaomi, has commenced pre-sales for its updated SU7 electric sedan at a higher starting price than its predecessor.
The updated SU7's pre-sales starting price is RMB 229,900 ($32,890), representing a RMB 14,000 increase -- or 6.48% -- from its predecessor's RMB 215,900 starting price.
This narrows the price gap between the Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 from RMB 19,600 to RMB 5,600.
It's worth noting that as a common practice in China's EV industry, the official launch price of a new model typically falls below its pre-sales price.
The new-generation SU7 is expected to be launched in April. Customers who have locked-in SU7 orders but haven't yet received delivery can opt to upgrade to the updated version, Xiaomi EV announced today on Weibo.
The updated SU7 continues to offer Standard, Pro, and Max versions, with pre-sales starting prices of RMB 229,900, RMB 259,900, and RMB 309,900 respectively.
The starting prices for these three versions of its predecessor were RMB 215,900, RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900.
Tesla's Model 3 currently offers four variants in China, starting at RMB 235,500, RMB 259,500, RMB 285,500, and RMB 339,500 respectively.
The updated SU7 comes standard with LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radars across all trims, and the driving assistance chip has 700 TOPS computing power.
The Standard and Pro versions are built on a 752V silicon carbide high-voltage platform. The Pro version boasts a CLTC range of up to 902 kilometers, making it one of the longest-range EVs in the Chinese market.
The Max version is built on an 897V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, capable of adding 670 kilometers of CLTC range in just 15 minutes of charging.
The updated SU7 series comes standard with Xiaomi's V6s Plus motor across all trims, delivering enhanced performance.
The SU7 was launched on March 28, 2024, with deliveries commencing in April 2024.
Over the past year and nine months, Xiaomi has delivered over 360,000 SU7 vehicles, averaging more than 17,000 units per month, Xiaomi founder, Chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said earlier today on Weibo.
