Global EV battery market share in Jan-Nov 2025: CATL 38.2%, BYD 16.7%

  • CATL and BYD collectively installed 575.2 GWh of EV batteries from January to November 2025, accounting for 54.9% of the global total.
  • South Korea's LG Energy Solution maintained its third-place position with a 9.3% market share.

Global EV battery usage totaled 1,046 GWh from January to November, a 32.6% increase from 788.9 GWh during the same period last year, according to data released today by South Korean market research firm SNE Research.

CATL's EV battery installations came in at 400 GWh from January to November, up 34.5% from 297.4 GWh the same period of 2024.

The Chinese battery giant maintained its position as the world's top supplier with a 38.2% market share during this period, remaining the only battery provider globally with over 30% market share.

This share is higher than its 37.7% share in January-November 2024 and also exceeds its 38.1% share in January-October 2025.

BYD's EV battery installations totaled 175.2 GWh from January to November, a 31.3% increase from 133.4 GWh during the same period of 2024.

The company ranked second with a 16.7% share from January to November. Its share stood at 16.9% both in January-November 2024 and January-October 2025.

LG Energy Solution installed 96.9 GWh of power batteries from January to November, marking an 11.1% year-on-year increase.

The South Korean company maintained its third-place position with a 9.3% market share during the January-November period, down from 11.1% in the same period of 2024 but unchanged from January-October 2025.

China's CALB (HKG: 3931) ranked fourth with 50.9 GWh installed capacity and a 4.9% share.

China's Gotion High-tech ranked fifth with a 4.3% share, while South Korea's SK On ranked sixth with a 3.9% share.

Japan's Panasonic, China's Eve Energy, Svolt Energy, and South Korea's Samsung SDI ranked seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively, with market shares of 3.7%, 2.7%, 2.6%, and 2.6% during January-November.

Notably, Samsung SDI ranked eighth with a 2.7% share in January-October, higher than Eve Energy and Svolt Energy.

CATL's share in November increased by 0.71 percentage points compared to October, while BYD's share decreased by 0.93 percentage points.
