Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) continued its sales rebound for China-made vehicles last month after declines throughout most of 2025.

Tesla China's December wholesale sales reached 97,171 vehicles, including both domestic sales and exports from China to overseas markets, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

This marks its second-highest monthly total on record, trailing only November 2022's 100,291 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

This growth may partly stem from Tesla accelerating deliveries in China toward year-end to enable consumers to benefit from more favorable purchase tax policies in 2025.

The US electric vehicle (EV) maker recorded retail sales of roughly 94,000 units in China during December, reflecting a year-on-year growth of about 13%. Detailed figures are expected to be available later this month.

However, annual wholesale sales still declined due to drops in most months of 2025.

Tesla China's wholesale sales for 2025 totaled 851,732 units, down 7.08 percent year-on-year.

Tesla operates a factory in Shanghai producing the Model 3 sedan and Model Y, serving both domestic customers and as an export hub.

Figures for domestic deliveries and exports from the Shanghai plant are not yet available.

BYD's full-year 2025 BEV sales reached 2,256,714 units, surpassing Tesla's 1,636,129 units for the first time.
