Cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs reached 15.33 million units in 2025, marking a 25% year-on-year increase.
China's passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) wholesale sales in December are estimated at 1.57 million units, marking a 4% year-on-year increase but an 8% decline from November, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said in a report released today.
Cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs reached 15.33 million units in 2025, marking a 25% year-on-year increase.
In December, manufacturers with passenger NEV wholesale sales exceeding 10,000 units accounted for 94% of the month's total NEV wholesale sales, CPCA said.
Based on preliminary January data, these automakers recorded sales of 1.47 million units in December.
Based on last month's structure, China's passenger NEV wholesale sales in December are projected to reach 1.57 million units, CPCA said.
This marks the sixth time China's monthly NEV wholesale sales have surpassed 1 million units.
In China, NEVs encompass battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and fuel cell vehicles. Detailed figures are expected to be released later this month.
Among major automakers, BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) recorded NEV wholesale sales of 414,784 units in December, Geely sold 154,264 units, Changan Automobile sold 101,417 units, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) sold 97,171 units, and Chery sold 84,315 units.
