BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) is expected to host a tech day event in late February 2026 to showcase its latest technologies, local auto media outlet Auto Home reported today.
The report did not provide further details about the event but noted that during yesterday's investor interaction on an online platform, BYD mentioned its entire lineup would feature advanced smart driving technologies.
On February 10 this year, BYD held a vehicle intelligence strategy launch event announcing smart driving capabilities across its entire model range.
The company then introduced its smart driving system, dubbed "God's Eye," which, similar to its DiSus body control system, features differnet tiers.
The top-tier God's Eye A system primarily serves its ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang. God's Eye B targets the Denza brand and select BYD premium models, while God's Eye C equips BYD's affordable vehicles.
BYD had pinned hopes on its smart driving capabilities to sustain rapid growth, but this appears to have fallen short of expectations.
From January to November this year, BYD's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales came in at 4.18 million units, marking an 11.30 percent year-on-year increase, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
By comparison, its full-year 2024 sales totaled 4.27 million units, representing a 41.26 percent year-on-year surge.
In November, BYD's NEV sales reached 480,186 units, marking a 5.25 percent year-on-year decline and the third consecutive month of year-on-year contraction.
Earlier this month, BYD chairman and president Wang Chuanfu said at a shareholder meeting that the sales decline stemmed from its technological edge not being as pronounced as in previous years, adding that major technological announcements were forthcoming.
BYD's core competitiveness lies in technology, and its team of 120,000 engineers will be the key support for tackling technological challenges and reestablishing its leading edge, Wang said at the time.
